About the Event

A multitude of factors can prevent dyslexics from displaying their true knowledge and intellect in formal testing environments. Understanding the nature of these factors is the first step towards eliminating them.

The "Gift of Dyslexia" Davis methods include a range of powerful study techniques tailored to bright but struggling dyslexic picture-thinkers. When a person acquires preparation, management and self-management techniques for exams that harmonise with how they naturally think and learn, being tested become easier, and success becomes predictable. The resulting self-trust builds emotional resilience.

The session is content-rich and compact enough to allow for extensive questions and answers within the allocated hour. After the formal cameras-off webinar, an optional 30-minute cameras-on "coffee meeting" will enable further questions to be put to the presenter in an informal setting.

The Session Presenter

Richard Whitehead is a Davis Dyslexia Programme Specialist and Director of Davis Learning Foundation. In addition to twenty years working professionally with the Davis methods, Richard worked for six years as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator in the secondary sector and for over a decade as a classroom teacher. In his first book, "Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If? — The Dyslexic Blueprint for the Future of Education", he brings together his many strands of experience in special educational needs support to provide key insights and strategies, based on the Davis methods, for teachers and proactive parents of bright but struggling learners. In his second book, "Counting On Fingers", co-authored with Ronald Davis, he explores the root causes of dyscalculia (sometimes known as "maths dyslexia") and how they are resolved in a Davis Maths Mastery Programme.
